The season started in February at a snow cover Buckmore Park in Kent. A snow plough cleared the circuit but could not raise the track temperature enough to melt the ice, so competitors were asked to drive their road cars around the circuit warm the surface, great fun, lots of sideways driving in all sorts of exotica, fortunately no dents!
With an air temperature of - 8 degrees on slick tyres and a track still covered in ice off line, the race was always going to be eventful. Four laps from home and on for a top five finish we were taken out by another kart spinning on the slippery surface.
That seemed to set the scene for the rest of the year, we were taken off by another whilst leading in the torrential rain at Whilton Mill. A number of good point scoring results were lost by reasons outside of our control, (and at other times we were just to dam slow!) still that’s racing.
